GPF Integrated Farming - Naturally from Nature

By launching of our integrated farming in line with our mission and vision, we are moving towards a regenerative food system. We are unlocking the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come.

The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the risks of unhealthy diets and the extreme fragility of the global food system. It disproportionately affects people who are overweight, diabetic, or suffer from cardiovascular disease – all of which are linked to poor diets. The COVID-19 pandemic should spur us to redefine how we feed humanity. The world now has a unique opportunity to adopt long-term measures to promote healthier diets, encourage farmers to produce a wider range of food, and strengthen collaboration among the public-health, food, and agriculture sectors. And agricultural research can play a vital role in transforming food systems and making them more sustainable and resilient.

The need for change is clear.

The economic reconstruction that will follow the pandemic is an opportunity to provide better nutrition and health for all. In the other hand, the world is facing several global health challenges. Study shows that 38 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese. At the same time, 47 million children under 5 suffered from wasting. Food is unevenly distributed across the globe, with some people eating too many nutrient-poor foods and some not getting enough food at all. Additionally, the nutritional value of foods consumed is not always well balanced, leading to deficiencies in vital vitamins and minerals.

Once successful launching of GPF Integrated Farming we are planning to start more nutritious foods and beverages, simplifying ingredient lists and removing artificial colors to help tackle these global public health issues and to meet evolving consumer preferences. Through micronutrient fortification of affordable staples, we will help the community to address conditions like anemia and wasting, especially in vulnerable populations. We also have plan to decrease sugars, sodium and saturated fat in our products while increasing vegetables and whole grains.

location

Our farm is located in Mogral Village on the outskirts of Kasaragod. The land is plenty with natural water resources and it is beautifully greened with coconut and areca trees. It is only 50km far from Manga lore International airport. We have got very easy and clear land, sea and air connectivity to the farm which would play a significant role while expanding our project..

Research & training

And our mega highlight in the project is research and training centers which is first of its kind in the region from private sector. We will support farmers to test their soil in our state of the art labs. To know the important of this concept we should know why should farmers get their soil tested? It informs the farmer of the current health of the farm’s soil and how to improve it. Soil fertility is determined by the soils biological, chemical, and physical properties. Properties such as structure, soil texture, and color are visible to the eye. However, it is hard to see the chemical composition of the soil. Therefore, there is a need for soil diagnosis and that’s why soil sampling is critical. Soil tests are used to determine the soils nutrient level and pH content. Armed with this information, farmers can define the quantity of fertilizer and the exact type that is needed for application to improve the soil on your farm. This is essential because fertile soils are necessary to grow healthy crops. Soil test leads to minimization of fertilizer expenditure, knowing the exact deficiency of what the soil is experiencing will result in zero wastage of such farm inputs, the quantity and type of fertilizers from wasting money on unnecessary extra fertilizer application. Moreover, nutrients such as potassium and phosphorus that are part of inorganic fertilizers are very limited resources. Their supply is limited or rather finite; implying that there is a need to be cautious in the usage to prevent a future shortage of such limited resources. GPF Objective is to help farmers by providing speedy test results so that they can increase the crop production.
